National League, Silva on the hill to improve to 8-0

Tonight National League predictions, written by Olivier:
*number 1 indicates road team win, number two home team win with respective pecentage to win the match.

Cubs (Silva) @ Pirates (Eveland) 1 60%
Silva, who hasn't faced Pittsburgh since 2003, is the first Cubs starter to begin a season 7-0 since Ken Holtzman opened 9-0 in 1967. The right-hander is coming off one of the best outings of his career, allowing two hits while striking out a
career-best 11 in seven innings of a 5-0 win. Eveland will make his Pirates debut. Eveland went 3-1 with a 3.82 ERA in his first six starts of the season for the Blue Jays, before posting a 16.39 ERA while losing his last three.

Padres (LeBlanc) @ Phillies (Hamels) 2 60%
Hamels is 3-0 with a 3.49 ERA in four starts against the Padres since 2008. LeBlanc hopes San Diego's offense can give him run support in the series finale as the left-hander tries to snap a four-start losing streak. This will be LeBlanc's first career appearance against the Phillies.

Giants (Zito) @ Reds (Cueto) 2 55%
Cincinnati has won seven straight starts by Cueto, who is 5-0 with a 3.27 ERA in that span. That includes a 2-0 mark with a 1.89 ERA in his last three home starts. Cueto was terrible in his last outing, allowing a season-high eight runs over five-plus innings. The right-hander has never faced the Giants. Giants starter Zito is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in his last three outings. The left-hander is 1-2 with a 7.71 ERA in five career starts against the Reds since joining the Giants in 2007.

Astros (Rodriguez) @ Rockies (Hammel) 2 65%
Wandy Rodriguez established career bests with 14 wins and a 3.02 ERA last year, but opponents have hit .314 against him during his disappointing first two months of 2010. Rodriguez will face a Colorado offense that has scored three or fewer runs four times in its last five games. Hammel takes the mound for Colorado looking to continue his recent improvement. Hammel is 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA in four starts since a stint on the disabled list.

Braves (Lowe) @ Diamondbacks (Haren) 1 55%
Lowe (8-4, 4.44 ERA) is 4-1 with a 2.45 ERA in his past five outings, has won his last three and given up one run apiece in his past two. One of last season defeats came in Arizona as he allowed five runs and 10 hits over seven innings. He was 4-1 with a 1.91 ERA in his previous six meetings with the Diamondbacks. Dan Haren is 1-3 with a 6.00 ERA in his last five starts. Haren is 1-2 with a 7.13 ERA in his last three starts against Atlanta and is 3-2 with a 6.44 ERA in five career matchups.

Cardinals (Walters) @ Dodgers (Monasterios) 2 60%
Both teams will start inexperienced pitchers. Rookie Monasterios will make his fourth start for Los Angeles after going 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in the first three, though he has yet to last longer than five innings. St. Louis manager Tony La Russa said he is leaning towards starting Hawksworth over Walters for the series opener. This would be the first major league start for Hawksworth, who is 0-2 with a 5.14 ERA in 18 relief appearances. Walters allowed seven runs and eight hits over four innings and did not receive a decision in a 9-8 loss to Cincinnati on Tuesday.
