Yankees (Hughes) @ Orioles (Milwood) 1 70%
Yankees on Tuesday night look to continue their dominance over the major-league worst Orioles. Hughes, who will try to break a tie with Pettitte for the team lead in
wins, is slated to make his third start of the season versus Baltimore. Looking to win consecutive games for the first time since a three-game streak from May 12-14, Baltimore hopes Milwood can come through with his first victory of 2010. He is 2-5 with a 5.15 ERA in 11 career starts versus New York.
Red Sox (Wakefield) @ Indians (Huff) 1 60%
Tim Wakefield has not been as good as his teammates lately, going 0-2 with a 13.97 ERA in his last two starts. Wakefield takes the ball after pitching brilliantly against the Indians last year, going 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA in two starts. Cleveland starter David Huff has never faced Boston, and now may not be the best time for him to face the team that leads the majors with 318 runs.
Blue Jays (Tallet) @ Rays (Niemann) 2 55%
Jeff Niemann will open the series for the Rays. He is 5-0 with a 2.79 ERA. in his last outing in Toronto the right-hander gave up a season high 5 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Brian Tallet will try to continue that stretch of strong pitching, opposing Niemann for the second time in a week. Tallet is 0-1 with a 7.97 ERA in four starts against Tampa Bay.
Mariners (Hernandez) @ Rangers (Lewis) 1 60%
Hernandez has given up one run in eight innings, striking out nine in Thursday's 4-1 victory over Minnesota to snap his seven-start winless streak. He has been sharp at Rangers Ballpark lately, going 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in four starts there since the beginning of last year. In his first major league start since 2007, Lewis gave up one run in seven innings of a 6-2 win over Seattle on April 9. Three weeks later, he outlasted Lee by pitching nine innings in the Rangers' 2-0, 12-inning road victory. He has gone 1-4 with a 4.38 ERA in his last six outings, averaging 4.7 strikeouts.
Tigers (Gallaraga) @ Whitesox (Floyd) 1 55%
Galarraga will try to seek some normalcy when he returns to the mound Tuesday. He is 1-2 with a 5.06 ERA in three starts and two relief appearances against the White Sox. The White Sox, looking for back-to-back wins for the second time in the last month, will hand the ball to the struggling Gavin Floyd, who has lost his last two starts. The right-hander has been very successful against the Tigers going 5-0 with a 3.34 ERA.
Royals (Greinke) @ Twins (Slowey) 2 55%
Going for a sixth straight series win against Kansas City, the Twins will face Greinke as he tries to avoid matching his loss total from last year's AL Cy Young Award-winning season. The right-hander has posted a 7.04 ERA while dropping each of his last three starts. Greinke is 0-4 with a 2.48 ERA in six road starts. Slowey suffered his first career loss in five starts versus Kansas City on April 25 when he allowed four runs and hits over 5 1/3 innings of the 4-3 defeat. Minnesota is 4-2 against Kansas City this season.
Angels (Weaver) @ Athletics (Mazzaro) 1 60%
Jered Weaver will try to help Los Angeles to its seventh straight win and seventh in a row in Oakland. Weaver has flourished against the A's lately. The right-hander has a 1.17 ERA in the past four matchups and won his previous trip to Oakland. He's given up one unearned run over his last 16 innings. Vin Mazzaro is replacing the injured Anderson in the rotation. Mazzaro was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento for the second time this season May 20 to give some relief to an overworked bullpen. In his lone start this season, the right-hander lasted only three innings, allowing four runs and walking four. Mazzaro is 0-1 with a 7.88 ERA in two starts versus Los Angeles.
